If you were reading my blog thanks for keeping me company on my trip.
Finished Vietnam with three more days in Saigon....flew to Kuala Lumpur for a few days...and took the bus to Singapore for a 6 night stay in a lovely hotel in Chinatown. My camera died when me and it fell into the water so I decided to enjoy my last two weeks being photo free and just staying in every moment.
Tomorrow I fly home to Vancouver. Soon as I get off that plane I am heading for a sushi restaurant in the West End. It will be Canada Day and I can only hope the weather is good and Vancouver summer fever is in full swing.
Traveling is a great luxury but nothing can compare to the place that you come from. Even so I could happily live here in South-East Asia and perhaps one day I will be able to come back again for a long visit.
To all the people I met on my journey....thanks for being my best friend for a few moments or a few days....I really love you all...

Eight Days in Dalat
It was rainy and cold in Dalat but I enjoyed every minute. Had a great hotel with a balcony that overlooked the downtown area. A lot of Vietnamese tourists come here and the town was very busy and exciting. Probably my favourite place in Vietnam and a great place to end my six week visit.
Wet and cold...just like Vancouver.... |
Here is where you get your lunch for less than a dollar |
She makes a mean sandwich |
Lots of small alleyways in this mountain town |
Local boys... |
...and they make for a good photo |
GIANT second-hand clothes market. Had to be seen to be believed |
Bought a second-hand shirt to stay warm |
Auto-garage guard dog....dog bowl...and dog house. Don`t think this guy had too many long walks |
A motorcycle is great for seeing the surrounding areas |
Went for lunch in a mountain restaurant |
They get the charcoal ready.... |

The small family farms are the economy here |
Downtown Dalat |
All the alleyways had cozy restaurants and coffee shops in peoples homes |
Always someone to chat with in the coffee shops. |
Nice Buddhist pagoda and grounds |
Very beautiful area...could of stayed longer...but you have to keep going.... |
Dalat farm homestay
My Dalat farm visit led me to doing a one-night farm homestay. I visited the parents farm and then went to my little house for an overnight experience.
Parents farm and house...a slice of paradise actually... |
Dad.... |
My home for the night was a little more modest. |
Small but functional house |
No hot water or refrigerator |
Baby chickens getting ready for a future dinner |
Bathroom, shower and laundry room...it was a bit intimidating...and mountain water is very cold |
Field out back...and passion fruit orchid is up the hill at the back |
Guard dog |
Khoi and the new puppy |
Khai, Khoi, and May....great hosts...and great cooks too. Forget to take a pic of the amazing dinner !!! |
Downtown in the small farming community |
Small town but had all the amenities |
Stayed for one night and got a flavourful taste of rural Vietnam life |
